Measuring gas flow when decanting gasoline and filling bitumen

Measuring flow rate in the recovery gas pipe during gas recoverygasolinerecovery

A gas displacement system is a mechanism to decrease volatile organic compounds (VOC) when distributing or storing automotive gas in storage tanks, gas stations or refineries.

Application

In 1994 the european parliament issued a directive instructing recycling of suppressed gas-air-mixtures. In Germany an according directive for gas displacement was issued in 1998. In China directives for gas recovery are currently also being tightened.

Recovering gas is cleaned in special setups. The gas‘ fuel condensates and is separated from the air. Afterwards it can be lead back to the actual fuel tank. The amount of gas led back to the actual fuel tank needs to be measured to fullfill the above named regulations.

When loading other mineral oil products such as bitumen a gas recovery hose is legally required.
